Feijoas

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:44 pm

I’ve been trying out a few new ideas, some my own and some originating elsewhere, regarding what to do with the green carpet of feijoa fruit that appears under our bushes this time of year. New recipes for Feijoa Jam, for Lime and Feijoa Jam and for Lime Marmalade.

  1. You are so lucky to have all those feijoas! I planted two feijoa trees a few years ago but have had hardly any fruit … I should add that I’m in Wellington, I suppose. Now I’m moving house … to a place with no fruit trees at all, so will be starting again from scratch. Feijoa recipes??? I’ve only ever eaten them raw, and absolutely love them with yoghurt on my muesli. When I can get ‘em.

  2. They are kind of subtropical. I’ve always reckoned those and plums and guavas should be planted in every public park up this way simply because they’re just about automatic fruiters, and there’s heaps of kids just don’t get enough.
